DONE :-) This bird shall fly!

Done ...

And the nice touch is the gold trim which makes it look richer but you can't see by the photo too much.
It also makes it better quality on the edges since as you know when you bend hooking if you don't sew exactly along the edge beside the row, you get the backing showing... what better way to hide that!

18x18" and the back has 3 brass buttons across the middle.  The backing is a greay wool, oh that hurt using wool for the backing, instead of hooking :-)

now on to finish my Karla G's :-) almost done hooking... it has been a great few weeks of progress while the NHL Stanley cup playoffs have been on :-) Congrats LA Kings... 8th to 1st good job!

Til my next update... happy hooking...

Polish Flag - Bird as a Pillow

I am pleased with the progress of my latest Pillow which I designed May 27th and promptly transferred using red-dot to the linen backing.

This is my 4th for the Delangly family based on a family tie to history - the Polish flag.  I have to finish it since I want to get back to my Karla G hookings that are so much fun! Yes I received the patterns and adapted them to 2 versions on linen.

Wendy requested a version of the bird found on the Polish flag... I googled and found a few variations and even a colouring book outline I could use to start with.  The pillow like the others I completed for Wendy will be 18"x18" and will have piping around the pillow with a black or very dark grey backing - using 3 buttons across to make it removable.

I was asked to use a red background that was not orange based... well low and behold I did not have any in my stash, shocking I know!  So I had to dye some, I wanted a cranberry red and do you think I could find a formula that already existed using my Pro-Chem.  I did luck out with a red from the Multi-Fusion Ingrid Hieronimus - Ragg Tyme had in her book and voila, with some a bit darker when hooked in, it came out quite nicely I think!

As I have hooked the wings, I have added in the detail lines so you can see on the right side the wing has the grey lines filled in and on the left still to be done.  Just like colouring at school!
