OHCG Annual 2014 (Oshawa @Durham College) - Some pix of Rug Display

May 2014 @Durham College - Kicking off the weekend after dinner Friday night - Wonderful fun with the kits we all had the opportunity to hook - samples provided below - was so much fun to wing it...

Some additional links here of many more pix taken :)

And here we go with some snaps I grabbed by phone or camera, the lighting was poor but the room was nice and roomy/airy :) I did what I could - with no rhyme nor reason in some cases on what I snapped ... Enjoy

47-10 Beautiful and rather large - not sure you can tell here and to add, the back was just as nice as the front!

Above is the Beginner Award Winner

Below is close-up - Beautiful vibrant colours with shading that enhances the impression left on the viewer!

 What fun with pumpkins

Love the use of the driftwood to hang from and the shades used for texture :)

Nasty looking turkey - nicely done!

Love this one, makes you feel so warm inside :)

Above is the Craft Ontario Affiliate Award Winner

Above is the Pictorial Award Winner - very nicely done, the truck is nicely 'overgrown' and forgotten

The green jumps out at you for depth in this one...

Above is the Wide Cut Award Winner

Above is the Alternative Techniques Award Winner

Above, the colours of the sun is just like a photo!

The above looks just like a photo would with the background blurred and the bird being the focal point sharp in contrast to the leaves, wow factor for this one!  Diane Ayles I believe was the hooker.

Above - Look at the detail in the legs and in the background to have an imprint - very nicely done!
Peacock Plummage and the fuzzy technique is better viewed in person...

Above is the Fine Cut Award Winner (LOVELY shading and details for such a large rug done in fine cuts... a LOT of hooking done here!) :)

To obtain a copy of this design contact Ingrid H.  Excelent colours!

This one was too long to show you in just 1 photo so I snapped full length and then zoomed in for separate sections ... see the following.  I believe this was under the featured teacher's section with various rugs on display - Teacher = Barb D'Arcy?

Above is the Award Winner for the Theme of alternative techniques at the show...

Mermaid made up from driftwood (boosom) and stones with faces slightly enhanced with paint... a tail-fin made from a turkey wishbone and claw is real as well.  The Hair and ribbon hides some of the details and for those not aware, this was punched with wool yarn (Sybil Mercer)
We had so much fun at the Gala Dinner and the entertainment after with singalong and the tappers was lots of fun to end off Sat night, then off to grab our Silent Auction Items :)
 Barb, Marilyn, Vicky...

HAPPY HOOKING ALL...
